The Amateur Alcoholist was born of a passion for spirits and a distaste for the way the category is often approached.

Drinking should be about enjoyment and discovering what you enjoy, whatever that may be.  Too often tastings and reviews are written for the connoisseur, using language the average Joe may never have heard, overlooking aspects like value, and even looking down on certain categories.

Our belief is that there is at least one spirit out there for everyone.  Our hope is to simplify your journey finding it.
